Employee Showcase - Matthew Smith

June 10, 2019

At SME Broker Services, our employees are what make this company such a great place to work. We consider ourselves a tightly-knit family of people of all walks of life, and we wanted to share what makes our employees special with an Employee Showcase feature series on our blog.

For today's Employee Showcase, we will be focusing on our very own pro darts player Matthew Smith, a Broker Executive here at SME Broker Services.

How would you describe yourself?

I describe myself to be a very hard-working young man who thrives in getting and reaching goals.

What does your role at SME Broker Services entail?

Providing businesses with the chance and opportunity to generate new business, I do this by providing data sets that fulfil their requirements and needs. Each data set is tailored to ensure you’re getting the best possible ROI.

How did you first learn about the position at SME Broker Services, and how did you find the hiring process?

I heard about the job on Indeed and I found that the hiring process was amazing. Everyone made me feel welcome. Perfect environment to work in.

How has SME Broker Services helped you in your career development?

SME Broker Services has helped me in my career by opening doors I thought would never be opened, I enjoy working here with such a great team, and this has helped me work harder knowing I have got a team willing to help behind me.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in both SME Broker Services and life in general?

My biggest accomplishment so far working for SME Broker Services must be bringing in my first deal, which then generated repeat business. My biggest accomplishment in general must be winning division 2 singles championships in Worcester Darts League and of course beating the best playing in the world Michael Van Gerwen.

What song makes you want to dance no matter where you are?

Elvis – Blue suede shoes.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you take and why?

I would take my darts, a dartboard and my phone.  I would take these items because I will still be able to play the sport I love and still be able to watch the matches. #DartsDartsDarts

What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on tailoring data sets for my clients. I really enjoy doing this part as it allows me to have a full understanding of what my clients are looking for.

A quote or piece of advice you live by that you’d like to end on.

Conor McGregor -  There’s no such thing as talent; it’s called hard work and determination.
