Employee Showcase: Alex Varvill, Broker Executive

November 19, 2018

At SME Broker Services, our employees are what make this company such a great place to work. We consider ourselves a tightly-knit family of people of all walks of life and we wanted to share what makes our employees special with an Employee Showcase feature series on our blog.

For todays Employee Showcase, we will be focusing on our dancing king, he loves to boogie and have a sing song! Alex Varvill our Broker Executive here at SME Broker Services.

How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as a good lad who has a good heart and is a hard-working guy; most people can get on with me and I am always trying my best to help.

What does your role at SME Broker Services entail?

I am a Broker Executive which entails me making calls to businesses regarding their energy contracts.

How did you first learn about the position at SME Broker Services, and how did you find the hiring process?

I found it online, as i was searching on indeed.

How has SME Broker Services helped you in your career development?

SME has opened another path for me in sales. It has given me experience on the phones and it is helping me gain another qualification as well as, hopefully, a long career here as I enjoy the atmosphere here and the people I work with. Individually, it has helped me grow as a person; it has made me more confident and given me a bit more self-belief that if I work hard, I can do anything I want and push myself to try something maybe that I wouldn’t think that I’m good at or would struggle in.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in both SME Broker Services and life in general?

My biggest accomplishment at SME is getting a lead on my first day as anyone will know your first day on the phones is struggle

and I just remember stressing because I had Rikki (Broker Development Manager) pointing to the script and whispering to me what I had to say.

What song makes you want to dance no matter where you are?

"C’mon Eileen".

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you take and why?

Sat-Nav, Speedboat, Food.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Junk food after work. By this, I mean I would go to a supermarket and get something like a 4 pack of cookies.

What are you working on at the moment?

Sales

No matter where you go, or what you do, always leave an                                                                        impression…
